Welcome to MATA!

We are Mata Group, the proud creators of MATA, a mobile application designed to provide one-minute visual news insights tailored especially for Gen Z. Our goal is to aggregate news from various sources and summarize it into byte-size, visually attractive information that’s easy to digest.

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) are a legally binding agreement between you, the user, and us, Mata Group. They govern your access to and use of the MATA mobile application and any related services we provide (collectively referred to as the “Services”).

By accessing or using our Services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms in their entirety. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not download, install, or use the MATA app.

These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use our Services. By using our Services, you also agree to comply with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

  1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the MATA mobile application, you are entering into a binding contract with Mata Group. This contract is represented by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”), which govern your use of the MATA app and any related services we provide (collectively referred to as the “Services”).

Your acceptance of these Terms is signified by any use of our Services, including but not limited to creating an account, browsing content, or contributing content as a citizen journalist. If you do not agree to these Terms in their entirety, you must immediately cease any use of our Services and uninstall the MATA app from your device.

Please note that these Terms affect your legal rights and obligations. If you do not agree to be bound by all of these Terms, do not access or use the Services. Your use of our Services is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle your personal data.

  • Description of Service

MATA is a mobile application developed and managed by Mata Group. Our primary service is to provide a unique news consumption platform tailored for Generation Z, known for their fast-paced lifestyle and preference for digital media.

Our app aggregates news content from a wide array of reputable sources, including but not limited to CNN, FoxNews, and The New York Times. We understand that in the age of information overload, it’s crucial to present news in a concise yet comprehensive manner. Therefore, MATA transforms these news articles into summarized bullet points, typically ranging from 3 to 6 per article. These summaries are designed to be visually attractive and easy to digest, allowing users to stay informed without having to invest a significant amount of time.

But MATA is more than just a news summarizer. Recognizing the value of diverse perspectives, we integrate professional journalism with community-contributed insights. Our platform allows MATA users to become citizen journalists, contributing their unique insights and enriching the news ecosystem on our platform.

By using MATA, users can not only stay updated with the latest news but also participate in shaping the narrative, fostering a more inclusive and dynamic news environment.

Please note that while we strive to provide accurate and timely news summaries, MATA should not be the sole source of news for our users. We encourage users to read full articles, especially for complex and critical news topics, to gain a more comprehensive understanding.

  • User Content

a. Online News Publisher Content

MATA is a news aggregator that collects content from various online news publishers, including but not limited to CNN, FoxNews, NewYorkTimes, etc. Our system uses web scraping techniques to extract information from these websites, transforming lengthy articles into concise, summarized bullet points that are visually attractive and easy to digest.

We respect copyright laws and are committed to addressing any valid takedown requests promptly. If we receive a takedown request from a news publisher, we will review it and take appropriate action, which may include removing the content in question.

b. User-Generated Content

MATA encourages its users to contribute as citizen journalists. This unique feature allows our users to share their insights and perspectives, enriching the news ecosystem on our platform.

By submitting content, you grant MATA a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, modify, reproduce, distribute, and display the content in connection with the MATA app. This license allows us to share your contributions with our user base, providing them with a broader range of information.

You, as the content creator, are solely responsible for the content you submit. We expect all user-generated content to comply with our community guidelines, which promote respectful and constructive discourse4. Any content found to be in violation of these guidelines may be removed at our discretion.

  • User Responsibilities

a. Account Information

As a user of MATA, you are required to provide accurate and complete information when creating an account. This includes, but is not limited to, your full name, email address, and any other information requested during the registration process. Providing false or misleading information is a violation of these Terms and may result in the suspension or termination of your account.

You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials, including your username and password. You agree not to disclose your password to any third party and to take reasonable measures to prevent unauthorized access to your account.

In the event of any unauthorized access to your account, or if you suspect such access, you agree to notify us immediately. We will work with you to address the issue, but we cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage arising from your failure to comply with this responsibility.

b. Acceptable Use

As a user of MATA, you agree to use the app for lawful purposes only and in a manner that is consistent with these Terms. This includes, but is not limited to, complying with all applicable laws and regulations, respecting the intellectual property rights of others, and refraining from engaging in any form of harassment or discrimination.

You also agree not to disrupt the MATA community or to use the app in any way that is harmful, abusive, racially or ethnically offensive, defamatory, infringing, invasive, misleading, objectionable, or in violation of any person’s rights. Any violation of this clause may result in immediate termination of your access to MATA.

c. Content Moderation

We reserve the right to moderate user-generated content to ensure compliance with our community guidelines. This includes, but is not limited to, reviewing, screening, and removing content that we deem inappropriate or offensive.

Our moderation process involves both automated systems and human moderators to ensure the accuracy and fairness of our decisions. However, we cannot guarantee that we will review all content, and we assume no liability for any content posted by users.

If you believe that any content violates our community guidelines or these Terms, please report it to us immediately. We appreciate your help in keeping MATA a safe and welcoming community for all.

  • Age Requirement

To use our Services, you must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 13, please do not download, install, or use the MATA app. By using our Services, you represent and warrant that you are at least 13 years old and that you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement. If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, your legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms. If you do not meet these requirements, you must not access or use our Services. We reserve the right to verify your age and may deny access to the Services if we suspect you do not meet the age requirement

  • Intellectual Property

MATA, including its name, logo, and all related names, logos, product and service names, designs, and slogans, are trademarks of Mata Group or its affiliates or licensors. You must not use such marks without our prior written permission. All other names, logos, product and service names, designs, and slogans on this app are the trademarks of their respective owners.

The MATA mobile application and its entire contents, features, and functionality (including but not limited to all information, software, text, displays, images, video, and audio, and the design, selection, and arrangement thereof) are owned by Mata Group, its licensors, or other providers of such material and are protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property or proprietary rights laws.

These Terms permit you to use the app for your personal, non-commercial use only. You must not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, republish, download, store, or transmit any of the material on our app, except as follows:

  1. Your computer may temporarily store copies of such materials in RAM incidental to your accessing and viewing those materials1.
  2. You may store files that are automatically cached by your web browser for display enhancement purposes.
  3. You may print or download one copy of a reasonable number of pages of the app for your own personal, non-commercial use and not for further reproduction, publication, or distribution.

You must not:

  1. Modify copies of any materials from this app.
  2. Use any illustrations, photographs, video or audio sequences, or any graphics separately from the accompanying text.
  3. Delete or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary rights notices from copies of materials from this app.
  4. You must not access or use for any commercial purposes any part of the app or any services or materials available through the app.
  5. Privacy Policy

Your privacy is of utmost importance to us at MATA. We are committed to being transparent about how we collect, use, and disclose your personal information. Our Privacy Policy, which is a separate document, provides detailed information about our data handling practices.

At Mata Group, we reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) at any time. Changes to these Terms will become effective immediately upon being posted on the MATA app or on any affiliated website.

It is your responsibility to check these Terms periodically for changes. Your continued use of the MATA app following the posting of changes will mean that you accept and agree to the changes.

We understand that changes to these Terms can have a significant impact on our users. Therefore, if we make significant changes to these Terms, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you at least 30 days before the changes take effect. We may notify you by sending an email to the address associated with your account, by posting a notice on the MATA app, or through any other appropriate communication channels.

Please note that it is your responsibility to keep your contact information up-to-date, so you can receive these notifications. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you should discontinue using the MATA app.

  • Termination

At Mata Group, we value the integrity of our community and the quality of the user experience on the MATA app. To maintain this, we reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to terminate or suspend your access to the MATA app without prior notice for any reason.

Reasons for termination or suspension may include, but are not limited to, violation of these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”), infringement of intellectual property rights, or any other actions that harm the MATA community or disrupt the user experience.

Upon termination or suspension, you must immediately cease all use of the MATA app. This includes, but is not limited to, browsing content, submitting content as a citizen journalist, and interacting with other users.

In addition to terminating or suspending your access, we may also delete your account and any associated content. This includes, but is not limited to, your personal information, user-generated content, and any other data associated with your account.

Please note that the termination of your access to the MATA app and the deletion of your account and associated content does not relieve you of any obligations arising or accruing prior to such termination or limit any liability which you otherwise may have to Mata Group, including without limitation any indemnification obligations contained in these Terms.

  1. Security Measures and Responsibilities

At MATA, we prioritize the security of our users. We employ a variety of security measures designed to protect your account and the data associated with it. These measures include, but are not limited to, encryption, firewalls, and regular system audits. However, no system can be completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized parties will never be able to defeat our security measures or misuse your personal data.

If you become aware of any breach of MATA security or have reason to believe that your account has been compromised, please notify us immediately at support@mata.today. We will investigate any security incidents and take appropriate action to maintain the integrity of our system.

In addition to our security measures, you also have a role to play in maintaining the security of your account. We strongly recommend that you use complex and unique passwords for your account, change your passwords regularly, and limit access to your mobile device and computer. Please be aware that you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account information and for any activity that occurs under your account as a result of failing to keep this information secure and confidential.

Service is “As Is” At MATA, we strive to provide you with exceptional Services, but there are certain things we cannot guarantee. Your use of our Services is at your sole risk. You understand that our Services and any content posted or shared by users on the Services are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

In addition, Mata Group does not represent or warrant that our Services are accurate, complete, reliable, current, or error-free. No advice or information obtained from Mata Group or through the Services will create any warranty or representation not expressly made in this paragraph.

Mata Group may provide information about third-party products, services, activities, or events, or we may allow third parties to make their content and information available on or through our Services (collectively, “Third-Party Content”). We do not control or endorse, and we make no representations or warranties regarding, any Third-Party Content. You access and use Third-Party Content at your own risk.

  1. Disclaimer of Warranties

MATA, including all content, software, functions, materials, and information made available or accessed through the app, is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permissible by law, Mata Group and its subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, and licensors make no representations or warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, that the use of the MATA app will be uninterrupted or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that the app or the servers that make it available are free of viruses or other harmful components.

We strive to provide accurate, complete, and reliable content on the MATA app. However, we do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content available through the app. The use of the app and its content is at your own risk.

We do not warrant or make any representations regarding the use or the results of the use of the content on the MATA app in terms of its correctness, accuracy, reliability, or otherwise. You assume the entire cost of all necessary servicing, repair, or correction due to your use of the app.

Please note that the above disclaimers do not apply to any product warranty offered by the manufacturer of the item.

  1. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA)

We respect the intellectual property rights of others and expect our users to do the same. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998, we will respond promptly to claims of copyright infringement committed using the MATA app that are reported to our designated copyright agent identified in the sample notice below.

If you are a copyright owner, or are authorized to act on behalf of one, or authorized to act under any exclusive right under copyright, please report alleged copyright infringements taking place on or through the MATA app by completing the following DMCA Notice of Alleged Infringement and delivering it to our designated copyright agent. Upon receipt of the notice as described below, we will take whatever action, in our sole discretion, we deem appropriate, including removal of the challenged material from the MATA app.

  1. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Mata Group and its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, employees, agents, partners, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses.

This limitation of liability applies whether the alleged liability is based on contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or any other basis, even if Mata Group has been advised of the possibility of such damage.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, so the limitations above may not apply to you. In such cases, Mata Group’s liability will be limited to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

This limitation of liability section applies fully in respect of all content, information, products, and services which are included in or accessible via the MATA app.

  1. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter or formation shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States.

This governing law clause applies regardless of where you reside or where you use the MATA app. This means that any disputes or claims that arise from these Terms will be interpreted under the laws of the State of California, and not by the laws of your home jurisdiction.

The state and federal courts located within the State of California will have exclusive jurisdiction over any suit in connection with the MATA app or these Terms. You agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.

Please note that this clause does not prevent you from bringing any issues you have with MATA to the attention of applicable federal, state, or local government agencies.

  1. Amendments

We may amend these Terms from time to time at our sole discretion. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the date at the top of these Terms, and in some cases, we may provide additional notice such as sending an email to the email address associated with your account or providing an in-app notification. Unless we say otherwise in our notice, the amended Terms will be effective immediately, and your continued use of our Services after we provide such notice will confirm your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the amended Terms, you must stop using our Services immediately.
